London Calling in Cali: Rita and Brian’s Burlington Arcade Engagement

You don’t need a passport to capture a European aesthetic. For Rita and Brian’s engagement session, we explored the hidden corners of Pasadena to find a vibe that felt both timeless and worldly. Their session proved that the right architecture can transport you across the Atlantic.

A Slice of London: Burlington Arcade Pasadena

We began the day at the Burlington Arcade. This unique space is a narrow, covered pedestrian corridor that replicates the famous Burlington Arcade in London.

The architecture features stunning shopfronts, intricate detailing, and a sophisticated, old-world charm. It offers a level of intimacy that is hard to find in Southern California. As Rita and Brian wandered through the arcade, the symmetrical lines and European flair created a high-fashion, “editorial” feel for their portraits.

Grand Architecture at Pasadena City Hall

After soaking up the London vibes, we headed to a Pasadena staple: Pasadena City Hall. While the Arcade felt intimate and cozy, City Hall provided a sense of grandeur.

Pasadena City Hall is famous for its 1920s Mediterranean Revival style. With its massive dome, open-air courtyards, and grand staircases, it acted as the perfect “second act” for Rita and Brian’s session. The contrast between the narrow, textured arcade and the soaring arches of City Hall gave their gallery incredible variety.
