From Kyoto to the Stars: A Griffith Observatory Engagement Story

Every great romance deserves an iconic backdrop. For Allan and Kat, their Griffith Observatory engagement session served as the perfect homecoming after a world-traveling romance. Their story proves that whether you are in a quiet garden in Japan or the heart of Los Angeles, love is the ultimate adventure.

A Spark at the Shore

Their journey began simply. Allan and Kat first met at a birthday hangout at Ballast Point in Long Beach. What started as casual small talk quickly moved to late-night Facebook Messenger chats.

Allan knew he had to act fast before Kat left for a week-long cruise. He locked in a first date that became an legendary OC adventure. They shared a “giant burrito” from Cali Tacos, grabbed Main Squeeze lemonade, and visited the Aquarium of the Pacific. By September 2018, they made it official while relaxing at home.

The Surprise in Kyoto

Fast forward to Spring 2024. After traveling to Seattle, Hawaii, and New York, the couple took their first international trip to Japan. On April 30, at the serene Okochi Sanso Garden in Kyoto, Allan completely surprised Kat. He dropped to one knee and popped the question the day before his own birthday! Kat said “yes” to the ring and a lifetime of more travels.

Chasing the Light: Griffith Observatory and DTLA

To celebrate their new chapter, we headed to the most romantic spots in LA. A Griffith Observatory engagement session offers a timeless, cinematic feel that few places can match.

  • The Observatory: We captured the couple against the Art Deco architecture as the sun dipped below the Hollywood Hills.
  • The DTLA Skyline: Afterward, we moved to the city center. The urban energy of DTLA provided a sharp, modern contrast to the park’s greenery.

Why Choose Griffith Observatory for Your Photos?

Brides love this location for several reasons:

  • Cinematic Views: You get the best panoramic view of the Los Angeles basin.
  • Historic Architecture: The white stone and copper domes add an “Old Hollywood” elegance to your gallery.
  • Variety: You can easily pair this location with the grit and glamour of nearby DTLA.
