I guess the seaside always called to Dave and Katherine, both growing up on California’s coasts. I’m sure the balance of the cool sand and waves is an added comfort when you’re studying medicine.
University California of San Diego not only offered these two a M.D., but a place to revel their mutual love for climbing, running and studying.
Together they have not only become study partners, but taking that best friendship through almost every walk of life. In this Laguna Beach wedding we see something a bit different from the usual.
As the sun set behind them, Dave proposed to Katherine on February 8, 2014 on the rooftop of Scripp’s Library.
These coastlines are a popular destination for weddings, engagements and is a frequent OC getaway once you brave our freeways and traffic. Here in Emerald Bay, you’ll find a quiet space to almost call your own.
With just a quick walk down to the beach you’ll find yourself in a peaceful state when you see the cliffs of the bay and the years of water-beaten rocks that provide the perfect backdrop for your sometimes cooky, but always entertaining wedding party.
The ceremony was held at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Laguna Beach. The church has great light, beautiful wooden arches and beams for a traditional and classic wedding feel.
The reception was held in the heart of Emerald Bay where the tables and chairs were set up right on the grass of the beach.
Donning flip-flops or going barefoot was a treat for everybody as they played and danced and shared this intimate moment of what felt very much like a private beach getaway.
As the night drew in, the soft lights above them made the whole place feel like it was caught between time. For a moment I’m sure we all felt like we’d all remember this, each making it our own, trying to hold on to it as slipped back into the waves of the ocean.
I can’t wait to visit Laguna Beach again.
